Which Surgery Is Right For Me?

Our surgeons will help guide patients in their decision, but ultimately the decision is theirs. Below is a side by side comparison of the three most commonly performed bariatric surgeries. One thing common to all surgeries and essential to their success is regular follow up!

An adjustable band is placed around the top part of the stomach creating a small pouch. This restricts the volume and type of foods the patient is able to consume.
Typically considered as a treatment option for patients with a BMI of 60 or higher. Approximately 85% of the stomach is removed leaving a smaller sleeve shaped stomach. The outlet valve and the nerves to the stomach remain intact and function preserved.
A small pouch is connected to the small intestines where food and digestive juices are separated for the first 3 to 5 feet so only a portion of the fat, calories and nutrients are absorbed. Requires 2 – 3 hours in the operating room
